Quote for Spearos

So you go for dive,
you try hard,
and drive all over the sea;
or swim all around spots where you expect some action.
Get home, flop into the chair, sigh.
What went wrong!
Man, the viz sucked, the swell was big, and top it there were no fish!

or,

the viz was awesome, reef was good, no fish!

or, What gave? Why did the fish come off, where did my line break, why did it break?

(I know the feeling well, very well. 17 years of diving with say about 80-100 dives per year, the chance of me feeling like that after some dives has to be superbly high!)
That's somewhere between 1360 and 1700 dives.

I reading a quote this morning I decided to post the above. Read the quote and recall it when you flop down, exhausted after an unsuccessful dive.

The majority of men meet with failure because of their lack of persistence in creating new plans to take the place of those, which fail.

Napoleon Hill

My online mentorship breaks spearfishing into parts that constitute the whole. It further shows how to activate the parts to produce the scaly critters from the ocean. Just like a car engine has many parts that must function together to produce motion, so do we as spearos require: energy, equipment, right mindset, knowledge, correct application to set up a flow of fish onto our stringers, or into our fridges.

My mentorship students encounter numerous quotes by Napoleon Hill and other persons of consequence through out their online program.
One aspect I repeatedly address is mindset of the spearo.

Why mindset? Why address the way someone thinks about their hobby as well as the hobby's parts too?

The answer lies in change. What brings about change.
How does a pile of mud, rock coal etc become a sky scraper, or your house?
What makes it become a building?

All it takes to initiate the process is a thought or idea.

I seriously doubt any man made device or object would exist if it did not first exist as an idea.

That is why mindset is important - different ideas come out of different mindsets. Change someones mindset and you change what they produce.

Now, with that in mind read the quote again:

The majority of spearos meet with failure because of their lack of persistence in creating new plans to take the place of those, which fail.

Napoleon Hill
